There are quite a few different types of wireless home security camera systems. The best system for your needs depends on the purpose of the system and how much you want to spend. The best security systems have multiple cameras placed inside and outside the house and are connected to be viewed through a system monitor, a TV, a PC, or a mobile phone.
These stand alone wireless systems do not directly connect to an alarm system, but work in conjunction with your alarm system. The alarm will alert you to turn on your TV or monitor or whatever it is that is hooked up to your camera system, so that you can see what it was that set off your door, driveway, or other alarm and if necessary, to notify the police.
The less expensive systems without alarms are primarily used to watch a particular location. They may be used to monitor a baby’s room, keep an eye on a babysitter from a remote location, check the water level in a craw space, or for many other similar set ups. These systems are usually expandable and so you can buy one camera initially, and add on others at a later date if the need arises. Most of the cameras in these systems can be placed indoors or outdoors.
