Board Cameras - Comments Off
Hitechhiddencameras.com understands that you will have different security needs for different areas. When it comes to a “security-versus-size” ratio, you’re not going to see a much larger value than that you’ll get with a board camera. These cameras consist of lenses mounted on a circuit board, and they start as small as one inch by one inch. Board cameras can be effectively secured in high-risk surveillance areas where visible cameras are not an effective deterrent (in some settings, a higher-visibility camera may be enough to effectively ward off unauthorized individuals). The benefit of a board camera relies on the fact that the only part of the camera that has to be exposed is the lens. For board cameras featuring pinhole lenses, that can mean a size of only 1/16″ in diameter.Typically speaking, pinhole lenses rely on their smaller size to produce a sharper resolution by decreasing the circle of confusion. The resolution will still not be as high as that of a ” lens, as the small size keeps out more light and produces more diffraction. For some uses, though, a pinhole lens will be effective enough. Pinhole lenses come in two varieties. Conical lenses are smaller and intended for use in security cameras installed in ceiling tiles. Flat lenses, on the other hand, produce better results when the camera is obscured by a thin material. Other board lenses commonly fall in the ” diameter category. Two imaging technologies are used in board cameras. Charge-coupled devices (CCD) are used to convert light into electricity, which is used to “describe” the information in the image. Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductors (CMOS) are also used for light-to-electricity conversion, but come in smaller sizes and require less power. Conversely, they typically offer a lower image quality.Board cameras can be hidden anywhere your company requires it, from inside radios to in the ceiling, as mentioned above. Most models can be easily connected to a TV or DVR for viewing. If you need to fit a large amount of security into a small space, board cameras could be right for you.
